I would like to express my sincerest thank you to M.A.D. Construction, and in particular Kevin Young. During the summer of 2015, I engaged M.A.D. to add a new front deck and driveway pavement of my parent’s house. During the initial walk-thru, Kevin listened diligently to my requirements and returned with multiple options geared towards long term cost savings and project preservation. He focused on educating me as a customer and detailed out the difference between the pitfalls of a concrete driveway vs asphalt and long term maintenance and repair. In addition, Kevin provided options for the deck to accommodate senior citizens who continue to be active but may need modifications in the near-term future. Such innovations, albeit simple, were prudent and included wider steps, non-slip step grips, and an open bottom lending to ease of under-carriage cleaning and proper storage of outside lawn materials. The net result was a project that completed 2 weeks early and 10% under-budget.
My overall impression in working with M.A.D. and Kevin in particular was one of shear joy and ease. The process he implemented was laced with empathy demonstrating an no-nonsense client centric approach. The business model he has designed is one of a trusted advisor advising clients and developing partnerships to deliver the best quality regardless of the dollar value of the project. In a nutshell, M.A.D. is engineered with integrity, personified by versatility, and driven by long-lasting client relationships. When my house burned down in September 2014 and I spoke with my insurance company I became incredibly overwhelmed at the path ahead. I had no idea how to even begin to rebuild and balance all of the moving parts. After talking to several friends and colleagues, they kept recommending “M.A.D. Construction.” With so many recommendations I contacted Kevin Young and we met at what use to be my home, now destroyed by a major fire. As soon as I met Kevin and his crew I felt comfortable and knew everything I needed would be taking care of and I would have no need to worry. Now I watch a lot of HGTV and they make renovations look so easy but people continued to warn me it’s not that easy. Well M.A.D. MAD Construction showed excellent craftsmanship in the work they completed. Kevin and Wes have a thorough knowledge of current construction techniques and best practices. They were willing and able to make suggestions and recommendations when requested.

It is with great pleasure that we’re afforded the opportunity to provide a testimonial for MAD Construction. We’ve managed residential sound insulations programs for airports and light rail since the late 1980’s. During that time we’ve worked closely with nearly 100 different general contractors. Of those 100 GC’s, there were a select few that were held in a higher esteem than the bulk of the rest. MAD Construction is without a doubt, one of those few contractors. Walsh Construction Company has been constructing the Hope IV project for Tacoma Housing Authority in multiple phases since 2004. One of the major goals of this project was to contract with the local Tacoma businesses with particular emphasis on minority and women owned business concerns. One of the first firms we contacted with at Shalishan was M.A.D. Construction.
From our first meeting Kevin Young, Owner of M.A.D., we were impressed by his breadth of experience and professional approach to the project. M.A.D. Construction bid the foundation and framing work on a portion of the project and won the on a cost competitive basis. He successfully completed these scopes on 12 out of 36 buildings in phase 1 of Shalishan, a contract value of nearly $900,00. The work was completed in a timely manor and met project quality standards.
I believe the experience gained by M.A.D. Construction on the Shalishan project served as a spring board for they business because they have been busy with other projects during the subsequent phases oh Shalishan and have not had the capacity to bid.
M.A.D. Construction certainly demonstrated a capacity for foundation and framing work on our project. I’m sure they capabilities have grown since their experience working with us. I would have no reservations about recommending M.A.D. Construction for work on future projects.

I wouldn’t say that I purchased a “fixer upper” but my home definitely a lot of updating… The kitchen area had two entries and there was a indoor window in the entry looking into the family room. I sealed both entries in to the kitchen making it its own space and the indoor window opening was cut in to a full size entry way (by my first contractor) – this created a huge problem! The floor where the cut out area was, was uneven. My contractor at the time, told me to contact a flooring company he had worked with because he didn’t see a way to transition the opening without it being awkward and he would not guarantee the work. The flooring company came out and told me to contact a flooring specialist they worked with… The flooring specialist said basically the same thing “ it would be awkward” and he didnt recommend it. I was at my wits end and getting ready to open back up one of the original sealed entries and close the problem space when my girlfriend told me to call Kevin Young with MAD Construction. I am so thankful I did!!! Kevin came out and said it would be no problem and offered the additional guarantee that it would look great. He did not disappoint. My hardwood floors are gorgeous and there is no noticeable transition from my entry way into my family room. It actually looks like it has always been this way! Since then MAD has went on to update my laundry room, remodel both my bathrooms and remodel my kitchen. Being in Real Estate, I have met/worked with a lot of contractors, MAD is by far the most fairy priced and honest I have worked with. And they do GREAT work! I refer them to all of my clients, my friends and family. They have truly turned my house in to a home.
